Rain Barrel Installation
First off, what you don't want your rain barrel to do ...
A common problem with many of the rain barrels found in the big box stores is the way they are intended to be installed.
Several homeowners have complained to us of their rain barrels overflowing and dumping water next to their home, which is not good for the foundation.
There are alternatives available, but many of the DIY kits in stores are of questionable quality.
We install your rain barrel the right way.
1. The Right Location
Every rain barrel needs a stable base. Our installation service starts by having you show us at least two possible locations where you would like your rain barrel installed. We will examine the sites and select an area where the surface either is already level or requires minimum levelling. In cases where minimum levelling is needed, we will level the surface and then proceed with bricks or patio stones to create a stable base.
2. The Right Way to Install
We provide a quality downspout diverter, and overflow adapter, and connect your rain barrel. Our approach helps to prevent your rain barrel from overflowing and dumping water near your foundation.
Installing a rain barrel stand is optional. The benefit of having a stand is that, 1) it helps the water pressure by lifting it up higher off the ground; 2) it makes room for placing a bucket or a watering can under the spigot.

Tips for Choosing the Right Rain Barrel
Size and Shape
We recommend that, before you run out to buy a rain barrel, measure all the possible areas where a rain barrel could be installed, and think about how you would like the rain barrel to fit into the space. The key consideration here is that the rain barrel should not block or make it difficult to access any entryways, the gas meter, or air conditioner unit, etc.
Design and Functionality
We recommend that you buy a quality product whose sole purpose is to be a rain barrel. We don’t recommend the blue barrels shown in the photo above, which originally were juice barrels. A proper rain barrel usually comes with an airtight lid or a removable piece on top to allow easy access to the interior of the barrel for cleanup, inspection, and repair work. The blue juice barrels are one piece, which makes maintenance difficult and repair work almost impossible.
The Spigot
We recommend that you choose a rain barrel with a spigot that can come apart and be replaced. In case of spigot malfunction, you want to be able to put in a new spigot instead of having to buy a new rain barrel.
